- This single-drive, 16-cartridge tape autoloader supports high-speed tape backup and up to 3.52TB (compressed) of stored data*. This 2U rack-mount option, designed for space consolidation, delivers high cartridge capacity and enables considerable savings in rack space. Its modular architecture brings performance, capacity and high density to enterprise tape backup applications. This tape autoloader will take advantage of the opportunity to vastly improve data protection by exploiting consolidated, shared and networked storage technologies, complementing IBM eServer xSeries servers. It features lights-out backup and simplified restoration and disaster recovery. Its mailslot feature allows for quick insertion or extraction of cartridges without operation interruption. * Tape drives that use data compression technology have storage capacity that will vary depending upon whether the drive is operating in native mode ( without compression) or compressed mode. Although the compression technology used in IBM tape drives can typically double the amount of data stored on the media, the actual degree of compression achieved is highly sensitive to the characteristics of the data being compressed.
