- Performance: The new IBM adapters boast performance that breaks through network bottlenecks with Intel's latest generation of Fast Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet chip technology and device drivers. Both adapters offer outstanding throughput and efficient utilization of the server PC's CPU. The Gigabit adapter's data rate up to 1000Mbps and support for PCI compliant, 64-bit, 66 MHz buses in the server offer performance an order of magnitude higher than Fast Ethernet. With support for optional jumbo frames, packet processing overhead can be reduced even further, improving throughput and efficiency. Both adapters support packet prioritization (IEEE 802.1p) and Virtual LANs (IEEE 802.1Q), helping to optimize throughput of data for crucial applications.
